Best time to purchase Disney vacation package and receive good deals?
My wife and I are planning to trave to Disney world from 1/1/2009-1/6/2009. Currently they have a special on value resorts, but unfortunately it expires at the end of the year. Based on past experiences, what is the chance that they will release another promotion before our trip? I have heard that if I book it now and they release a promotion afterwards, that is valid during my travel, I could possible be refunded. Has this ever happend to anyone? Should I go ahead and book now or wait? Has anyone ever been credited if a promotion occured after they booked?

- BOOK NOW! Worse thing that can happen is that you wait and the rooms you want to stay in are completely full. Especially those days (trust me I know - I try to stay at Disney that week as it's my birthday and am speaking from experience.) You can always call back if another promo comes out and see about getting discounted rooms if available.
- People have booked packages for this time period long ago. If there were going to be a special it would be on the web site. At this late date you may find it hard to get a room in a resort of your choosing. I would call the Disney reservation line NOW and ask if there are any deals (this is one of there busiest times to go) and book your resort.
- first they most likely will not be doing a promotion for that time seeing as they would've annouced it by now considering that is only 2 months from today. you may be able to get partial refund if you book it then hear of a promtoin i'm not exactly sure. i haven't had that happen to me but then again i've not found out about a new promo after booking. i always find out if there is going to be one for when i want to go and if there is thats great but if not i just go anyways. to find out for sure you would have to call and ask. if you are going thru AAA you could ask them but if you planned on just booking it yourself online then you should call 1-407-wdisney and ask them directly. and what in the world are you waiting for you need to book NOW! the dates you want to go are only 2 months away from today. you need to book your trip before you can't get the hotel you want. many people that are going around the same time as you (including myself) have had trips booked for moths now. i'm going the week before you and i've had my trip booked since the begining of july and i should've booked it in the begining of june since i am going during the busiest week of the year so i'm lucky i got the hotel i wanted. and infact i almost didn't but someone had just cancelled their trip for the same dates i wanted to go. i advise you to book it like today. and if a promotion does come out which is unlikely it will between now and then then oh well if you can't uuse it. but call disney to find out for sure how that would work. but really don't waste anymore time book now! and have a great time!
- The chances that you are going to get a better deal during that time is slim and close to none. Although it is New Years Day and later Disney is extremely crowded during the Christmas and New Years weeks. In the event that a better promotion does come out, they may let you hav those prices, however you should expect to have to pay a fee to "change" your plans. If nothing else you can cancel your previously booked vacation, and rebook, but you risk the chance of losing your room... and of course there is a fee to cancel. Just ask when you make your reservation what their policy is. The Reservation Center is very nice, and I have never had a problem getting an accurate, straight forward answer from them. 407-WDISNEY If you do not already have your reservations I would recommend making them now. Hopefully the resort you want is still available. And just so you know, if the Disney resorts you want are full and you opt to stay off site, if the Disney theme parks reach capacity Disney will turn away off site visitors. On-site Disney guests are always admitted to the theme parks, regardless of crowd sizes.
- I booked and been able to apply a discount code later on several occasions. Also, several of my clients have had the same experience. However, there may not be a discount for your dates. Disney did just release an annual passholder discount for the dates you are traveling. Traditionally, they release the AP discounts first, then they release codes for the general public. I would book the trip, and then keep an eye out for discounts later. If you need any help with your park touring plans, please let me know!
