Disney World Vacation Package

How to plan a disney vacation package?

So I have been trying to plan a disney world vacation package in Orlando Florida. What is the best and cheapest approach for this? The things I want is that I get flight and Hotel and also tickets to the the four theme parks. Is it better to buy the tickets and hotel together separately and then buy the theme park tickets from somewhere else? Which website is the best to get the theme park tickets? I am looking into Expedia and travelzoo so far for the flight and hotel packages. And is it true that the disney park tickets have to come in the mail even if you buy them online? One of teh travel agents told me that and I just want to confirm. Please answer soon. thanks

  2. It is BEST and EASIEST to do your planning with Disney. If you are doing a Disney World only vacation then you should DEFINITELY stay in one of the many hotels on Disney World property. If you are on a budget then there are four (soon to be five) value resorts to choose from. There are great perks to being a guest in a Disney World resort, such as: -FREE Magical Express transportation between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World Resort -FREE transportation throughout Walt Disney World Resort (if your vacation is Disney World only then there is no need for you to rent a car at all if you're staying on-site) -Extra Magic Hours (every day one of the four Disney World theme parks either opens one hour early or stays open up to three hours late for Disney World resort guests only) -Access to the Disney Dining Plans, which will save you money on food (the bigger the plan, the more money you save) -Plus there's no better way to immerse yourself in the full Disney World experience than staying on-site within all the magic. :) As far as park tickets go you really won't get a better deal anywhere else, unless you are a member of AAA or the military or are a Florida resident. The tickets go down in price per day the more days you have on your ticket. If you order the tickets online then you can either have them mailed to your OR pick them up at Will-Call when you get to the parks, so the travel agent was definitely wrong. If you book the tickets as part of a package deal with Disney World including on-site hotel then they will be loaded on what's called a 'Key to the World' card given to each person upon check-in at the hotel (this card will also have your dining plan credits loaded onto it if you purchase a dining plan, will be your room key and can be used to charge purchases to your room if you attach a credit card to it). As for flights, I would check with low-fare airlines for the best deals. Southwest and JetBlue both have free checked baggage allowances, AirTran is great as well.
  3. you are going about this all wrong. DON'T go to a third party travel website! the only third party travel agent i would even considering going to is AAA if you are a member. otherwise book your vacation directly through disney world either by phone or on their website. what ever travel agent told you that you have to have the tickets mailed to you is clearly CLUELESS. you can pick the tickets up at will call. if you book a package and stay at a disney world hotel you will receive a key to the world card which is your room key and has your park tickets electrically loaded onto it. your key to the world card will also have your dining plan credits loaded onto it if you add a dining plan to your package which you can only do if you book a package that includes a room at a disney world hotel + park tickets. i highly recommend the dining plan. you can also have your credit card attached to your key to the world card so you can leave your credit card in a safe place and use your key to the world card to make purchases to your room. personally i would recommend booking a PACKAGE DEAL that includes hotel, park tickets, and a dining plan. you CAN add flights to your package but disney partners with the more expensive airlines so personally i would book the flight seperately through a more economical airline such as southwest. by staying in a disney world hotel you will receive free magical express bus service from the orlando interantional airport (MCO) to your hotel and back. and once on disney property anyone can use disney's free transportation which includes buses, boats, and a monorail system. by using their transportatio you can get anywhere on disney world property. their transportation is convenient and efficient. also a great perk of staying in a disney world hotel is that you can enjoy extra magic hours at the parks. in order to get on the rides and see the shows during extra magic hours you must present your key to the world card to the cast member at the ride entrance. the lines are considerabley shorter during extra magic hours since only disney world hotel guests are allowed on the rides during that time. i suggest going to the disney world website to explore everything they have to offer. you can also create a mock booking to customize everything exactly how you want it and there is no obligation to book the package: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/
  4. Your question makes it sound like you are planning to stay on site at a Disney hotel. If that is the case then this is very easy. You really only need two websites. I would make your hotel and ticket reservations right on the Walt Disney web site. There really are not any deals that are better anyway. After that, all you need to do is book airline tickets on an airline website. Look at the major carriers that serve your area and pick a good deal. It has been my experience that third party sites do not provide any additional value in airline tickets. Just one man's opinion though. After you have your airline reservations, you can update your info on the disney website to schedule their free airport transportation. So, my advice is to keep this simple. The only trick really is if your dates are flexible and you want to price a couple different weeks to see what is cheaper. So, don't let the mountain of information available, and the huge number of companies trying to get your business make the process harder than it is. Just make the reservations and have fun.
