He was in the National Guard and in Afghanistan for a year. We would love to bring the kids to Disney World this summer. He got out after being in the militry for 12 years.

  1. Probably not. For anything to have a military discount you'd need a military ID card. If you don't have one anymore then it's highly doubtful, unless he was medically retired and given a retiree's ID card.
  2. There are other discounts out there, but you're going to have to look smart if you know what I mean. Don't get into a scam. Check out the AAA for example. It costs about $100 to join for a year and they have discount benefits along with other things, road service, mapping service. Also Disney has package deals for staying in their hotels which can save money and hassle and gives you early entry or late hours. Also please consider avoiding Disney in the summer. It's awful. It's hot and humid and it rains every afternoon. The lines for major rides are two hours long sometimes. If your kids wouldn't miss much, after school starts in September is a much nicer time. The weather has cooled down some, almost everyone is back in school, it doesn't rain as much. Lodging is usually cheaper.
  3. Hey! We stayed at Shades of Green (shadesofgreen.org) at Disneyworld which is the MWR resort down there. It's right on the Disney property with free bus service and far cheaper than the other Disneyworld resorts. Best time to go is right after Thanksgiving! If your husband was honorably discharged, you qualify to stay there: http://www.shadesofgreen.org/eligibility.htm It was really nice and Do NOT buy the supposed military discount tickets. I found tickets were much more reasonable through discount outlets (saved at least $70 per person on 6 day park hopper). Sign up for the MouseSavers (mousesavers.com) newsletter and they have an extra discount on passes. Thanks to your husband for serving and to you for supporting him. I hope you have a great time at DisneyWorld.
