Disney World Vacation Package

Which Disney World (FL)resorts have connecting rooms or multi bedroom accomodations?

Looking to go to Disney with 4 adults and 2 year old infant. Would like either a connecting room or a 2 bedroom resort to stay at. Any other info on the dsney resorts would be appreciated!

  1. We just came back and stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. There was a door in our room that connected to another room. Of coarse it was locked, but they might be able to do that for you. Its also reasonably priced. There is also the wilderness resort & campground. That one can fit like six adults, but Im not sure of the price on that one. A really helpful book to pick up is the Unofficial Guide to Walt disney world. Its very helpful and gives you all kinds of tips on everything and anything you would want to know. Hope that helps.
  2. Every Disney resort has connecting rooms available. Make sure to request this when you make the reservations. They say that they can't guarantee connecting rooms, but every time that I have requested it I have not had a problem. One trick is to call the resort itself the day before you get there and make sure that you have connecting rooms. That is when they generally do the room assignments. As for the resorts themselves, you are making a great decision right off the bat, staying on property. There is no better way to go to Disney than to stay on property especially with a young child. The perks that you get are unbelieveable, they take great care of their resort guests. Plus they have a resort to fit any budget. There are 4 types of resorts at WDW, value, moderate, deluxe, and vacation club. The value resorts are just that, value. Don't get me wrong, these are great places to stay. The rooms are on the smaller side, and there is only a food court, no sit down table service restaurant. The decor and bright themes of each resort make these family favorites, they all have huge pools, the food courts are pretty good as food courts go. The value resorts do offer family suites now, but I am not sure that they are at all of the values, I think they may only be available at the All-Star Music resort. The family resorts sleep six. My favorite in this category is the All-Star Movies resort, with the Pop Century a close second. The moderates are a little bigger and more quiet than the values. The rooms themselves are a little bigger, again you can get connecting rooms. There is a large themed pool with quiet pools in many of the other sections. Each of the moderates has a dedicated bus line (unlike the All-Stars from the value section, one of the drawbacks.) All of the moderate level resorts have a food court and a sit down table service restaurant. My favorite of this category is the Caribbean Beach. The deluxe resorts are the cream of the crop. These resorts are all located around the Seven Seas lagoon in front of the Magic Kingdom and are connected by the monorail system(except for the Animal Kingdom Lodge.) These resorts have the most amenities of all, multiple choices for dining including a dinner show at the Polynessian (a luau) and each has character dining. The rooms are huge at each of these resorts, and you are within sight (or walking distance in the case of the Contemporary) of the Magic Kingdom. My favorite of these and fav overall is the Polynessian. The vacation club resorts are the home away from home resorts. These generally are a little tougher to get into than the other resorts because the rooms are reserved first for the vacation club members, but they are all worth a look. Each of the vacation club resorts offers everything from a studio room with a kitchenette, a one bedroom suite, two bedroom with full kitchen, to a Grand Villa townhouse that sleeps twelve. Each has a food court and sit down table service, multiple pools, and other recreation available as well. My favorite of this category and a close second to the Polynesian is the Saratoga Springs resort. When you purchase your tickets I would highly recommend the park hopper option if nothing else. The 2 year old is free, so it is only the adult tickets you have to purchase. The park hopper option gives you the most freedom and flexibility. For example, let's say you get to the Magic Kingdom but it is quite crowded. With the base ticket you are stuck, but if you have the park hopper you can always switch gears and head for Epcot via the monorail. Also, say you spend some time at the Animal Kingdom, then decide after a midday rest to hit the Disney Studios for a ride on the Aerosmith Rock 'N' Roller coaster and catch the Fantasmic night time show. You can only do this with the park hopper option on your tickets. It just gives you the flexibility to come and go as you please and make the most of your trip. There are a few places I would recommend for more info. First, check out the Disney website. They have a resort comparison tool you can use to decide which resort is best for you. Also, check out the DISboards. The disboards is a message board website that is all about going to WDW. You can get trip reports, tips on avoiding crowds, resort reviews, dining reviews, advice, ask questions and much more. It is a free website that has more info than you could ever use to go to Disney. Finally, go to the bookstore and pick up the Birnbaum's guide to WDW. There are a ton of guide books out there, but that is the one that has worked best for us. Hope this helps, have a great trip!!
  3. Here is a link to some information comparing all of the Disney resort room sizes. I hope this helps you a bit. I would go for the connecting rooms (you'll get 2 bathrooms - that would b good for 4 adults!) Have a wonderful time!
  4. a 2 yr old or an infant??? I dont believe you are guaranteed a connecting room. Although, we've never had a problem getting one. I've always tossed my kids on the floor with those comforters that I never use, then ask for more blankets and pillows. Grand Floridian has a little more room and is right on the monorail so using bus transportation isnt needed. we stayed there when my parents came so they could just monorail back to the hotel if they needed to in the middle of the day/night. I'm not sure who has 2 bedroom suites. I've never heard of them. Good luck!
